BIOGRAPHY - Thomas G. Miller, CPP    Special Agent-FBI (Retired)

Special Agent Miller retired after 22 years of service with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). As a supervisor and agent he worked crimes against persons and property such as Robbery, Kidnappings, Extortion, Fugitives, Inter State and International Auto Theft, Theft From International Cargo Shipments, Copyright Violations, Bank Fraud and Embezzlement, and Crimes On The High Seas such as Sexual Assault, Battery, Theft, and Stowaways.

Agent Miller served on two multi-agency task forces during which time he provided assistance to the special adviser to the United States (US) Attorney General regarding formalization of national policy relating to crime prevention between the United States, Europe, Central, and South America. He assisted the US Ambassador to the country of Belize with the Stolen Vehicle Treaty Awareness Program and conducted an assessment of the Belizean National Police providing recommendations for training and equipment.

With several other agents he assisted the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) in Iraq. After retirement he returned to Iraq serving as a Law Enforcement Professional, subject matter expert/adviser, to the command staff of the 1st Armored Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Agent Miller has been involved in training for police officers and agents locally and internationally over 20 years. He has taught at the FBI Academy, The International Law Enforcement Academy in Budapest, Hungary, and has conducted training courses in the United States, Europe, Central, and South America. He is a certified instructor for General Investigations, SWAT, Firearms, Rappel Master, and Survival Awareness.

Before becoming a Special Agent he was a Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol working in road patrol and conducting penal institution and special event investigations. He was a Patrolman with the East Canton Police Department also conducting road patrol and investigative functions. He served with the US Army Airborne Military Police as a detachment commander, desk sergeant, and patrolman regularly working with the German Police on a daily basis and for special events.

He has been recognized for his contributions to law enforcement by the Police Commissioner for the city of Mainz, Germany, the US Ambassador to the Country of Belize, and the Commanding General of the 1st Armored Division.

Agent Miller is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) International, the preeminent international organization for security professionals. He has been awarded the coveted Certified Protection Professional* designation by the ASIS Professional Certification Board

Agent Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from Malone College and an Associates of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Kent State University.

It is evidence that an individual is "Board Certified in Security Management." The CPP is awarded based upon experience and passage of an examination that provides an objective measure of an individual's broad-based knowledge and competency in security management. Ongoing professional development is required in order to maintain the credential.
